Special Considerations When Cleansing in the Spring

According to Oriental Traditional Medicine, each season governs certain organs in our body.

In spring, the liver and gallbladder require special attention and nourishment to stay healthy and functioning optimally.

Spring is the season of rejuvenation, of clearing out and of renewal.  The liver is a key organ in our body’s detoxifying process and the gallbladder aids in the digestion of fats.

If you are entering a cleanse during the spring season be sure to add in liver cleansing vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and dark leafy greens.

There are a whole range of dark leafy greens that cleanse your blood, provide excellent nutrition and provide chlorophyll.  Experiment with kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, dandelion greens, alfalfa and parsley.

The fruits to emphasize for a spring cleanse are berries!  Bring in the strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.

Check out my Cleanse Your Life Course for more detail on food, herbs and teas that detoxify and nourish the liver and gallbladder…plus excellent and delicious recipes that use these foods (especially the greens!)
